Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I can see the problem with the lady with the carved legs but I can't see the HA problem, Chris. That could be because I've never heard of "apposition" before.

Anything that dangles - in this case, the road - is attached to the nearest noun, i.e. the 270k vehicles.

[Nope, I still don't see a problem with that in the same way as the example]

'As one of the busiest sections of road on our network, more than 270,000 vehicles pass through the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange each day.'

I think I see Chris HBs point: ''As one of the busiest sections of road on our network,' is not related to the subject, 'more than 270,000 vehicles'

Simply deleting 'As' and placing 'one of the busiest sections of road on our network' after 'each day'.

This gives:

'More than 270,000 vehicles pass through the M25 junction 10/A3 Wisley interchange each day, one of the busiest sections of road on our network'

[Yes, your correction is much better, but there isn't the same scope for misinterpretation or misunderstanding as with the carved legs, as we proved by not being able to find it when looking. I'd argue that in this case the breach is only technical.]
