Plain text is just that - no tabs, any special characters, bolds, italics, emojis etc Rich text is allows a few features - eg bold, italic, bullets HTML lets you throw in whatever you want - colours, emojis, pictures, URLs/links to anything etc etc

Not because it isn't spreadable, it is ... and not because it doesn't taste nice, it does. But because it doesn't stick to your knife. You've got to BALANCE it on your spreading knife between the tub and your toast and if like me your hand is anything less than surgeon steady, at least 60% of the time it's falling off onto the table.
