Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Hello,

I'm into taper now for the Manchester marathon in 2 weeks time. I'm going out on shorter runs and running at what seems to be a comfortable pace but it keeps coming in at around marathon pace or about 15 seconds under it.

Is this too fast? Should I slow down or is it good that my 'natural pace' seems to be around marathon pace?

I am tapering for Sunday and am struggling with this too.

Largely by being a bit faster than MP and I would like. It feels like natural pace but won't be my MP.

In my mind the rule is to significantly lower the mileage but keep the intensity so what you are doing seems fine to me.

I tend to run at about 30-60s slower than mara pace overall, but with a 1-2 fast miles (one on sunday was 50s faster than MP). I also do nothing over 5M in marathon week. However I tend to 'shut down' rather than taper mileagewise

My schedule says I should still be running at the same pace as pre-taper, just less miles.

I'm with Mark J. Same pace as pre-taper, maybe just throw in strides.

But Manchester's a short one, innit, no point tapering for that. Why don't you do the proper one? :-D

Bah this might all be right, but it's very inconvenient, unless someone can move either my house or work so they're temporarily closer together.

Lovely, thanks guys.

I tried THE marathon last year Greg but it was too far, I only managed halfway before I had to pull out. I'll just stick to the easier ones until I'm ready for the ULTIMATE challenge.

Got something to say?
