Chester marathon 2 weeks on Sunday. Problem now is my left shin is giving me trouble. How much rest at this stage can I get away with without it ruining my chances of a sub 3? Thanks

surely you would be better off resting completely at this stage? if it is niggling, running on it won't improve things. and you risk it being much bigger problem in the race and a long recovery

I agree with Stumpy - better to be going into it a little unprepared than to be carrying an injury.

I've read somewhere that even if you did no training at all, you don't start to lose fitness for 3 weeks. This close I'd rest it completely or at best head out for VERY short runs but stop immediately if the problem reoccurs.

Rest and cross train maybe? Recovery/Rest is just as important...

I had a shin trouble leading upto my last race it was only a week away and only 10miles but I rested it apart from one decent bike ride and ran on the day with no issues, it was tight for the first couple of miles but it was ok after that. You'd be on taper now anyway so I figure x-train & rest.
good luck in the race

I guess a little rest won't hurt. Thanks

Ride your bike or go for a swim if you're getting exercise itch. And good luck in Chester.
