Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I want to find a route* (3 peaks around Abergavenny) on the OS maps app, and transfer it to Garmin Connect so I can stick the route on my watch.

How the bloody hell do I do this? I've been at it for the last hour. I'm sure there's something simple I'm completely missing.

*I think courses and routes are separate things on Garmin. No idea what the difference is.

Done it! Only to find that Garmin is buggered and doesn't recognise the route. Twat.

Is the course already drawn? Not sure about OS Maps app but this is possible on strava or Ride With GPS but it’s not especially intuitive transferring to Garmin, though there are instructions on the web.

My go-to is Ride with GPS to design the route and transfer to Garmin. (You can pick running too). You only need a free account as long as you don’t want to change someone else’s route.

The other options is to use a desktop and transfer the .gpx file, that can be a bit easier than using a phone/tablet.

I assume it's already drawn, although I'm not entirely certain what that means in this context.

Still, I'll have another go at it tomorrow, applying my work principles that if no-one is screaming then it can probably wait until the morning.

I can't help with the garmin transfer, but the OS route ( https://explore.osmaps.com/route/1122419/south-wales-3-peaks-gold?lat=51.835862&lon=-3.061169&zoom=12.0888&overlays=&style=Leisure&type=2d&placesCategory= ) transferred to fetch, seemingly OK?

It also loaded to Garmin Connect without issue - but I didn't save it there
