@SPR Yes didn't fancy those conditions - well done toughing it out - 95 second lap? Oh that's brutal - all been there! Was that the race Miss RM won? Its is - Just checked the results, plus Lee Murphy is in our training group, he was in the same race. Know who you are too now! I thought we followed each other on Strava! |

@LBAC Si Yes, when she came past me with the second pacer, I tried to latch on but couldn't and swore loudly 🤣. I actually started running on the outside of lane 1 after that as thought I was just going to have to jog it in just to finish but 4th and 5th came past late enough for me to recover enough to get back to 3rd. Got official splits and last four laps if my maths is correct were 90, 98! 88 then 76 to get back to third in the last 100 (lucky to be kicking vs athletes where 5000 is short, lol). I did 'win' the race to 3000 though and that does go on PO10 🤣 I saw some complaint about the second pacer running the 2nd 1000 too fast and can see he hit 3000 6 secs ahead of schedule. Would be interesting to know how the race was for RM and whether she hung on for a bit. Another one of your guys (I think) DF decided to interrupt my spell behind the first pacer for 400 at one point. I thought it was odd as I hadn't left a gap but fair enough if you want the position. I did think it was very odd when he started dropping off after 400 and then later on when I saw his previous times. I love the picture of me and the pacer dropping everyone else that's on my Just checked PO10 and we must have met at MK5000 in 2021. Was another hot one but no wind IIRC. Ran that one quite well actually even if there was some fade but I didn't try to go for a PB that day. |

Still feel like I'm not fully recovered from the 5000 on Saturday. Luckily I have till 13:00 tomorrow to decide whether to enter the 800 tomorrow evening. I somehow managed to think that the BMC at Loughborough was on 16 July rather than 9 July so would be good to get the 800 in before that for some racing faster than 1500 speed but obviously not crucial. |

Feeling decent today BUT made the mistake of seeing the closing date and time but not the entry limit so it looks like no race today *facepalm*

Got 800 and 3000 tonight at Southern vets at Perivale, West London. Rare clash with Eastern Vets at Corby - and even though my father in law, I'm not going to bloody Corby. Far too far. So HHH not Bedford vest. Not entirely up for it either. |

RM isn't that fit at the moment - she should be capable of 16.00 |

I didn't even run the day after (this time or last time)so can't imagine racing. It looks like I managed a midweek 1500 and a decent 4:25 off a 73 first lap (guess that was the legs needing to wake up, lol) looking at my records. Re RM, yeah I did have a look and I imagine that's why she was ok in the heat as she was capable of much better in cooler conditions and maybe set off more conservatively than if she'd been in top form. For me, I can't see why 9:45 at 3000 should be an issue in good conditions, but can never guarantee conditions. Race well this evening. Conditions seem better for racing here. |

Well done in the 5000m @SPR - sounds like a painful, but gutsy finish to a tough race. I've been too scared to run a 5000m/5k for a long time now, I should probably have a go at one later this year. How did your race go this evening @LBAC Si ? I did a very tough session last night: 3 x 600m at 800m race pace with 6 minutes recovery. I didn't know I was doing it until half way through my warm up and I wasn't sure my legs, let alone lungs would cope because of my achilles tendonitis and sore hamstring from Thursday's races. I went off strong for the first rep (31 at 200, 65 at 400) in 1.39, but was full of lactic acid by that point. Second rep felt hard more less from the start (32 at 200, 67 at 400 and finished in 1.42). I had to really psych myself up for the final rep (32 at 200, 67 at 400 and finished in 1.41). I collapsed in a heap on the floor after the final rep, gasping for air. That was probably one of the toughest sessions I've done. I didn't manage to hit 800m pace (which would equate to about 1.37) but I'm reasonably pleased with my effort. |

Thanks @Blister. That's a tough (impossible?) session aiming for 800 pace! We had a MD coach that would do 4 x 600 with 5 mins which would end up in between 800 and 1500 pace. He also did a 2 x 600 TT session at 800 pace which had at least 10 mins recovery.
