Wrong thread and possibly forum given that's neither track or road.

M40 🥇 at the masters champs today. There were only two of us but did the job. It was gusting quite a bit (saw the electronic board showing a 6.3 wind at one point!) but it was cool. 3:12 at 1000, 6:35 at 2000 (3:23) finishing in 9:34.09 (2:59!) as second wound it up to try and drop me. I thought he did a good job of trying but didn't realise how good till I saw the splits! Last 600 in 200 splits was 35, 36, 31! Shows there's quite a bit more in the tank on the right day for a time I think. Hopefully the right conditions and race next week at MK5000 as that's why I opted for the 3000 here instead of 1500. Victory 2 were fine today, not as comfortable as DF2 obviously but no issues and I imagine they were very helpful when kicking. I will use them next week. |

Brilliant run @SPR, you were flying in that last 200m! I wouldn't be surprised you could run a sub-2.10 800m at the moment with that speed.

Thanks @Blister, I was patient with that last 100 and remembered what I said previously about not trying to accelerate too violently and just holding form and speed. The guy in front did a good job of forcing me wide into the home straight and I was too close to tuck in on the inside. Rather than trying to hit it hard out of the bend, I just kept the arms moving well, and only went for more with 50 to go which is when I went past definitively. I was feeling pretty good after 1000 and when it slowed I was feeling very confident although I wasn't thinking I'd be running a sub 3 last 1000! Up to that last 50-100 I didn't have any doubts which was a great feeling while racing. Hope you're right about the 800. Unfortunately, it seems the one go I may have lined up is the Wednesday after the 5000 coming up Saturday. Hopefully I recover well. I did do 3 x (4 x 200, 90s rec) 4 mins rec on Thursday with these splits. Wasn't feeling especially smooth although the last set felt better and the speed was fine. 34.9 32.9 32.8 32.0 (2:12.6) 31.4 32.4 31.7 32.7 (2:08.2) 32.8 32.7 32.0 31.4 (2:08.9) |

Great finish there @SPR I came a cropper going too early in the masters inter area at Corby last year. My V50 mate Jeff P tracked me and came back past me! Really good speed. My last 200 at Wimbledon must have been about 40 LOL. 10k was ok, first V50. Wore the TS10 in the end, warmed up in the VF, just thought the bounce of the Lightstrike would help. steady start, passed a few to end up with 35.36. Next track is Southern vets at Perivale next week. |

Thanks @LBAC Si. That was me a few weeks ago, from 5th to 2nd but then back to 4th as went too early. Sounds like a good run and should hopefully boost high end endurance which will be useful for track stuff. Was thinking I'd do the LD session today (3 x 3000 with 2 mins recovery) but the MD session of 3-5 x (1000 @ 5k, 2 mins rec, 500 @ 15, 4 mins rec) is probably better. Maybe keep the 500s a bit more controlled if it starts to feel tough. |

I didn't think it was a real distance, lol. But for me it only works if mm means a different type of running as that's the whole point of the m Vs km discussion.

@SPR Both sessions are worthwhile. Can't see my track being that great this summer. Apart from getting on the V50's, just noticed I can't get to Thursday night track in July at all due to races (Newport Pagnell 5k, Stevenage relays & LFOTM) and having to be at home. 10 x 600 again on the Luton paths again last night as coach wasn't there. Similar to last week -1.58, 1.52 then 6 at around 1.48, with a 1.45 & 1.43 to finish. |

Looking consistent @LBAC Si. Thursday your main track night then? Tuesday always road? I did the MD session in the end. 3:12.3, 86.6 3:10.7, 85.0 3:11.5 86.7 Happy with that but definitely didn't want to do another 1000 even though they were solid (I think only one person did a fourth set and I don't think they were upping the speed on the 500s as much). I'd love to be confident of holding those 1000 splits for a 5000 as that would be sub 16 pace but ATM the fastest I'd want to be at 3000 is about 9:45 and see how I feel at that point. |
