Every day there's a couple of Rivet Joints and often an AWACS and Reaper drone flying holding patterns just on the other side of the Ukrainian border, over Poland or Moldova.

I thought that from the time the armoured column was getting twatted and not resupplied. It's the one thing the west can give in support, real time location is Russian forces, makes ambushes a whole load easier. Also, helps to know your mobile launcher isn't going to be intercepted on the way to the it's launch site. Bet they're digging around in the old Soviet silos to see if there's something they can hit Moscow with. |

As regards the possibility of sabotage or enemy action taking out those fuel dumps in Russia, this purports to show the moment one of them goes up. I'm no expert in these matters, but can I hear something incoming just before the bang? twitter.com |

It feels like this situation is sliding towards a wider conflict. Worrying times.

It is, but then again it was when Russia annexed Crimea and no one helped them.

Let's face it, it's been a proxy war from the start, right from when the west (rightly) started pouring weapons and other support into Ukraine. Not to mention the sanctions.

It has indeed, and Russia seems determined to turn it into a 'proper' war (I can't off the top of my head think of the opposite of proxy - in person doesn't sem right as I suspect we'll try to avoid boots on the ground as far as possible.) Apparently Putin claims the Bucha crimes to have been carried out by the West as provocation to Russia. He's looking for any excuse to go full-scale war. |

I don't see how they can win a conventional war against Nato. That's the worrying thing.

The foreign minister was willy waving with the nukes the other day. Thing is, they all have their families living over here ... so how likely are they to really do it, I wonder. His daughter lives in London.
