How about a bucket hat and a smuggled wok? Yes, I know that's not Skeg Vegas in the background |

Is that Bully outside the chip shop? "Let's see what you could've won." [and you say it's wind, but doesn't that normally come out of the other side?] |

(fair point Dio, well made. But just remember how tight your average tri suit is, wind has to escape where it can)

The thread reminds me of something I saw last year; residents describing their local towns. Most seem to be from locals so they have the experience and knowledge and can share wise insight into their local environs. If you want to go down a wormhole for an hour, some are very funny, some are quite vicious -> ilivehere.co.uk These are some of the strap lines: Carlisle - the people who inhabit this city are not quite right Harrogate – Brilliant if you like floral displays on traffic islands Dewsbury- proof that evolution works both ways Mablethorpe – the land that time forgot Northampton, also known as ‘Nofuntown’ Skegness – where the Northerners go to die Maidstone – The biggest moving mistake of my life Chatham: the dog sh*t splattered patio of the Garden of England Tunbridge Wells: seems posh but has a seedy underbelly Mill End: inches from the cancerous smog of junction 17 on the M25 Torquay: The English Chavopolis Salisbury: I spy with my 3rd eye Stalybridge, sweet innocent kids turned into right little bastards Sandbach- Here’s the co-ordinates. Bomb it. Wrexham – a terrifying spice-zombie filled cesspit Cwmbran: it’s ok if you like Greggs Elgin – Embrace the Void Aviemore: we are made to feel as welcome as a Christian in Saudi Arabia |

Very true about Dewsbury. I lived there for 32 1/2 years and escaped with the correct amount of fingers. If you want proof of how Dewsbury is watch the channel 5 documentary on Shannon Matthews, or search Shannon Matthews immediate family involved in the investigation into her disappearance. |

Holidays and most weekends between April and October were spent in a caravan at Ulrome, near Bridlington. I occasionally go back to Ulrome, but have avoided Brid for a while. |

We have been to Brid a couple of times in recent years. What a dump (and I remember it and that area fondly from holidays there in the 70’s)

Where we used to go, a few miles south, is lovely. Not much to do, but beautiful beaches. Last time there we had a lovely walk to Fraisthorpe. Luckily no longer a nudist beach as the wind whipping the sand might have stung.
