I had to take a year out before starting my PhD to get my study mojo back. That's a genius idea about the PhDilemmas, Linds, our postgrad people don't do anything like that, I think the director of PhDs in each department bears the brunt of it instead.

My course is more vocational than academic (training to be a Psychotherapist) but I get an NUS card and everything I'm coming to the end of my second year (of either 3 or 4 depending on whether I do the extra year or not). I've cut down my paid work from full time to 3 days per week and I spend the two days I'm not at work out on placement or in supervision. Training is done on weekend courses 10 time per year. And bloody hell I'm knackered
