Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Why is it that the worst behaved children in public have surnames as their first names; i.e. Harrison, Ryan, Connor, etc.?

I once had a casual job in an Unemployment Benefit Office. Amongst my "customers" I had an S.Hite and a P.Enis

This is not a joke or an Urban Myth. It was at Billingham UBO....

I don't really believe in correlations between names and whatever the social ill du jour might be. I grew up with a first name that was considered well out of order in the area we lived in, even among my immediate family (though clearly not my parents, who were the ones who chose it). It didn't turn me into a delinquent; I have been fortunate enough not to have to live off benefits at any point in my life despite not coming from money in any quantity or marrying it; I'm not in debt and I have a job I like that pays reasonably well.

I suppose I could be an aberration...or something crab

70 years ago, or there abouts, a vicar took a principled stand by refusing to christen my sister because of the ridiculous name my parents had chosen - Julie.

Further study is needed, but I wouldn't bet against it - see also made up names.
