Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Are we *sure* this isn't an accidentally leaked April Fool like Voltswagen a few years back?

An awful lot of my ex-collegues went to work for Dyson when my old company shipped us all out. Their work is interesting enough but as an employer they are not the greatest by all accounts. So much so I will not countenance buying a single thing from them, quite apart from the Hoover ( :-) ) I did buy was fucking shite and they couldn't fix it.

The Mold has been spotted locally, well worth trying to find, the tolerance of high environmental level of metals is handy in the North

My happiest Today memory was John Humphries telling James Dyson that his wife had a Dyson Hoover.

Dyson did not react especially well.

I'm intrigued but perhaps not all that surprised that Humphries said the Dyson was his wife's. I lay no claim to ownership of any household appliances and I'm pretty sure OH wouldn't say 'Daisy has a Hoover/Dyson/Whatever. It belongs to 'our house'.

He split up with his wife in the 1980s (and he hasn't re-married). I have a feeling that they didn't divorce prior to her death of cancer, so it is entirely possible that the Dyson in question did belong to his wife and not him.

OTOH, he always comes across as remarkably sexist.

I regard our traditional vacuum as belonging to me.

Norbert, the robot vacuum, does not belong to anyone. He is a free vacuum.

I'm not sure I'd attach a possessive to any of our household or garden stuff - 'the hoover' (which is a Dyson), 'the lawnmower', etc.

It's Sue's Kenwood Chef though, and my bread machine.

Hummus recipe:

Proper hummus is served with a drizzle of olive oil, rather than oil being a significant ingredient in its own right. This is what should go in it:

• 1½ cups cooked chickpeas or 1 (15-ounce) canned chickpeas, drained and rinsed*
• 3 tablespoons tahini
• 3 tablespoons lemon juice
• 1 garlic clove, mashed
• ¼ teaspoon salt, or more to taste
• Approximately 2-4 tablespoons room-temperature water or aquafaba, or more if needed
• Optional garnishes: extra virgin olive oil, sumac or paprika, finely chopped parsley or other herbs, whole chickpeas

This particular recipe from thymeandtoast.com but it’s typical of the Middle Eastern way of making it.
