Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm unlikely to do a recce. Though some off of FRA forum are looking at a possible date next month.

Me too a few weeks back.

My recce involved filling in the entry form and nothing else.

A recce is only essential if you are racing it for position. I'm sure I'll remember bits from last year, if I'm lucky

A few people seem to have struggled on last section in the dark. I plan to finish in daylight to cut down any potential problems.

I'm doing the recce because it helps me.

I couldn't 'race' my relay stage last year ( as was still inda injured) but knowing the route already definitely made it more enjoyable and helped other runners who didn't know the way. I won't be recceing all the stages, just the ones that I'll probably be doing in the dark or that I fancy doing!

It's also a weekend of running and socialising with my club which will be great.

I'm not racing for any postition (obviously) but everyone to their own.

If I lived nearer I would recce Sioux - I recce'd all of the Ridgeway except the first few miles, and it helped so much on race day, as I didn't need to constantly panic over which way I should be going.

Exactly Jen. The recce ( for me) is for the * ooh which way do I go now* fun and on race day I can run as much of it as possible without that worry, especially when I get beyond tired which for me, will be much earlier than you experienced Ultrarunners!

Ah but Siouxsie your club has an organised recce. If I was closer I'd maybe recce it myself.

not so sure about that - I'm likely to be shot by the time I get to the checkpoint with hot tea

Sorry TMW, your previous post said a recce was only necessary if racing for a position - nothing about whether the race was close enough to recce. It's a 4 hour drive for us btw. I'll be leaving home at 5am to start running at around 9am. Is that close ?
