Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It's a fraction over 87 with spot on nav ;-)

I'm hoping to be back to race it sometime soon. Maybe this year , but hoping to have both kids and a successful UTLD. To recover from!

Agreed. It's definitely 2 miles longer than the advertised 85. Not complaining - don't want to be short changed after all.

If anyone fancies joining me I am doing runs along the Ridgeway for the next few saturdays, mainly on the western half from Goring towards Avebury. It was pretty slippery and muddy on saturday.

The surface is really bad in some parts. I recced the route in sections over June and July and there were some really bad bits with damage from greenlaners and farm trcks. Real ankle turners in the dark! As for dstance I make it 138km which is a touch under 86 miles. I know there are a few bits escpecially on the Eastern half where different paths can be taken so you have to be careful to go the right way.

Tis all pretty well signed though so navigation ought not to be a worry for people. I remember the last few miles from Barbury Castel to Avebury were hideous a couple of years back due to the wheel ruts. Lots of good bits to look forward to though!!

Nightjar, that bit was really bad the other week, I was having to walk slowly and pick my way in daylight! As was the section between Liddington hill and the descant into Osbourne St George. There are markings but many of those are obscured by undergrowth and some are just posts with an acorn, no indication of what path they are marking. Glad I have recced it all in daylight!
