Mudclaws are great for mud - but no use (worse) for slimy stone/chalk etc. Still looking for a good shoe for that. I do have a pair on Inov8 Ultra 290 Goretex that seem good for mixed ground - although do feel them if on road for too long, and not as good as the mudclaws in recent really gooey clay. |

Not those shoes, but have had goretex trail shoes, warm in cold dry & windy weather but waterlogged after fording puddles & other fun wet stuff. Was a while ago, may be improved now.

I sometimes use waterproof socks which may be a better alternative than waterproof shoes. However they are pretty thick so might be a struggle if your shoes are snug.

Roclites are great, avoid goretex shoes unless you want to run in snow.
