Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Sorry I was frequently present over the past decade (6 times since 2016) but having a bit of a break from marathoning for now. Hope training went well and tapers underway……

I'm hoping so too! I went out for a little 2.5 mile shakeout earlier, which felt far tougher than it should have done. Hopefully it's just taper nerves.

Ready to just get this one done now

Weather forecast has improved very slightly, now showing only 19 degrees instead of 20.

Just hoping a bit more cloud gets blown over!

This late April date has the potential to make the conditions a bit more of a lottery. Most of mine were the first Sunday in the month and they were all comfortably cool.

I'm red start, which is 9'10, I don't run so well in hot weather so fingers crossed 🤞.
Best of legs to all runners

It's just my luck really - Manchester Marathon 2012 was freezing and raining all day, so I wanted no rain for this one.

It's now going to be scorching instead 🥵

Oh and I think I'm getting a cold!

Going to reframe my goals to just getting round now, which is a bit of a shame after all the training

Also thinking of breaking one of the cardinal rules... Nothing new on race day.

With the heat, tempted to ditch a t-shirt and go for a vest instead. Been a while since I've run in a vest though and also not sure how it will interact with my running pack 🤔

Maranoia ripping out of you mate. There’s water stations, ditch the back pack and wear a vest.

Five weeks out and I can't find another thread for this, so thought I'd start one!

Why other fetchies are doing Manchester this year? Is it your first mara? Or first time in Manchester? PB attempt or just getting around? How is training going?

Let's discuss!
