Hi, I’m waiting for dates for a bilateral hip replacement and wondered who was on here that has had a Hip replacement and what their experience of running after was?

Hi mags. I had my right hip ‘resurfaced’ in January 2003. Only took up long distance running after that. Have since run many races including 40+ half marathons. I’m also hoping to attempt a full marathon in the autumn.

Although having both replaced is going to be somewhat different to my running experience I’m happy to let you know what it was like for me.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Hi, I had one done 4 years ago, wouldn't know it was there now! I'm sure you will be amazed how good you feel afterwards. I had titanium with ceramic head do you know what you are having? I was told that was the best combination for an active person.

Thanks for your feedback .. good to hear you are both still running . I am in a FB for post hip replacement group but many are outwith Uk with private surgeons . I’ll maybe message you when I get my surgery date if that would be ok 👌

I didn’t do the FB thing. Mine is a metal on metal implant and seems ok 15 years on. As D2 said happy to message via fmail if I can help at all.
