Hi,

I'm popping over in a couple of weeks.

I've just got a few questions if anyone has any opinions- I've sorted out most of my cycling routes, but the day I don't really have a clue is going from Limerick to Killarney.

I don't know the middle of Ireland AT ALL.

Would you go via Newcastle West, Abbeyfeale- N21 direction, or N20 to Mallow, N72, or the N69 way via Tralee (I've been over there before), or over via Teipperary (or is that a long, long way out)- see what I did there, or straight through middle or whatwhat?

I'll also be asking for lots of food advice shortly ;)

I have actually been to Limerick. (It was a bit rough - well, a sort of half of it was). It was a bit flat round there but there seemed to be some sort of mountains off in the distance (northwards). There, that's my knowledge exhausted. Let's hope some Irish Fetchies are around

Thanks for your fountain of knowledge ;) I avoided Limerick last time as everyone told me not to bother. But this time I'm def slotting it in as I have the time. I will have come from the mountains northwards lol

I'm not a cyclerist but my choice would be N21. Quite scenic around Abbeyfeale and Castleisland.

I don't really know the N20 route via Mallow, or Tipperary.

There's also the N69 via Listowel / Tralee. Quite a nice stretch along the Shannon between Foynes and Tarbert before cutting inland. A bit quieter than the N21 as well.

Thanks Fitz. One vote for the N21. I have been on the N69 before, I'm pretty much open to anything- whichever is the nicest way!!

I'd second Fitz on both the N21 or N69.

I wish I could recommend venturing into Tipperary, but being totally honest there probably wouldn't be much gained in going into West Tipp from Limerick (and, to be brutally honest, going into Limerick at all, but its best you find out for yourself why everyone has told you not to bother with Limerick! :P)

In terms of Tipperary, I strongly suspect the well-trodden cycle routes would be north and south.

Thanks. Scrap Tipperary then, it's now down to a choice of N21 or N69.

I'm expecting absolutely nothing from Limerick don't worry. It's just a good half way stop on the way to Killarney!
