I never wore a vest Interesting. I have, and some (many?) times regretted it later. |

My Garmin isn't posh enough for heat acclimation, but actually, I prefer running when it's a bit warmer. Or more exactly, when it's warmer and sunnier. Which is possibly a disadvantage in Scotland ![]() We don't have a seasonal shift like you, Bowman 🇸🇪, the hot days jump out and surprise us. Which can happen from anytime from February to June. Then they often go away again. If there's a decent spell, though, maybe three runs for me. Some runners up here though I think never fully adjust to anything above 17C. (I set two HM PBS in Spain, one race was proper hot at the end. Although the flat courses had a lot to do with it.) |

I stay not far from Dvorak and agree, it’s not really feasible here as we just don’t get a long enough period of warm enough weather to enable it. It was warm for me on todays run and it had rained. I thought about a rain jacket but didn’t as I know that I would melt inside it and I was glad of that decision I know when running on holiday and it is hit, I cannot hit the same paces as I would at home. I do have an interesting background of marathons on hot days. Edinburgh 2009 and a pb in 3:03 and I handled the heat well. The following year I managed 3:06 but found that harder work. Fast forward to London 2018 and it was no warmer than those two, but seemed a different kind of hear. I was arguably in better physical shape and ran a miserable 3:21 and I wasn’t in a great way when I finished. |

I guess humidity would be the culprit in the different races basoaxe?

Just running in the heat as much as I can, has done more than I anticipated. From feeling sick when it went from 5-10°C to 17-18°C To having one of my best “sub maximal” runs Hr/pace I ever had in sun and 23°C heat. I’m always getting surprised of what the body is capable of in terms of adapting to different things. It’s really not Mojave desert conditions yet, but still. 🐪 🌵 🏜️ 😀 |
