They little swines can get through the top vents in the pop top and laugh at the side window insert things, they're useless. You need a really fine mesh/denier to stop them.

I'll take the Smidge recommendation onboard, for any Scottish trips, but we are thinking Ireland, Galway if we can later this year. Yorkshire/PeakDistrict if we can't cross the water. I have also had good success keeping bitey things away in South East Asia with Incognito. Scottish midges probably think it's a new flavour.

Unfortunately DEET also kills flora, fauna, skin, eyes, lips, taste buds and, in sufficient quantities, probably 51 year old Scottish hill runners. Fortunately I've managed to keep just low enough to avoid death. Thanks for tips on van renting. I better stop watching or I'll want to get one! G
