Admidst the debate on publication (strange decision!) can I raise a question to others who did race? I didn't but a friend (who happens to teach data protection law) has said that the results given to him are slower than the clock time when he crossed the finish line.
Has anyone else noticed/found this?

Here's a thought....
If you don't publish your results anywhere else other than on your own website then people will be forced to visit your website to see the results.
Has anyone ever heard of CPM? Forcing visitors to your website could be a way of adding an extra income stream to the EMF profits.

I haven't but as I started from the blue pen it will have taken me at least a couple of minutes to cross the start line.

longboat - did your friend run the Half or the Full. The Half clock was certainly about 20 or 30 seconds out, ie they started it too late. Not sure if they remembered to start it for the Full on time.

Last did this race in 2010 and 2011 then it was the finish area which was the problem, this year its the results is there something every year that Edinburgh get wrong, lessons should be learned and these races should get better by the year ??!.personally I got a huge pb and the finish area was much better and the support really gave me a lift.although really cheesed off when Joe public get put on buses right outside the finish area and we have to walk ages down the road even though we have prepaid tickets

I did the half ,crossed the line in 1:24:54 on clock, my garmin said 1:25:12, chip time 1:25:13 and gun time was 1:25:21 so the actual clock on the finish was 27 seconds out...not sure about the lead car. I put in a big sprint to get under 1:25 and was gutted when I checked the garmin

Bazoaxe my friend had a similar experience in the half marathon, he doesn't run with a gps but had a watch with a stopwatch, he thought the clock said a time that tallied with his watch, but when he got his chip time it was 20 secs slower.

I am just glad that it wasnt a possible PB and the range of times from clock to gun fell between PB and my 2nd fastest HM - would have been gutted if the clock indicated a PB when it wasnt really

Yes that would've been awful! If they did start the clock late that is inexcusable, it's almost as if they don't want competitive runners to take part in their events...
