Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Bottom line, I expect more from a race who claim to be 2nd best behind London.

I have done London 6 times.

I have 6 Edinburgh marathons, 1 half and 1 Kilomathon from GSI under my belt.

In all of the Londons there was one minor glitch on the red start one year when we started 20 seconds late - otherwise it is a brilliantly co-ordinated and managed event.

The problems with the GSI events are endless, almost every time there is at least one issue:

- water ran out/stolen
- people being stopped and prevented from completing
- A finish advertised as a grandstand finish which ended up being in a spectator free area
- the TV screen for spectators didnt work due to high winds / a fox chewing the cable
- Shuttle bus shambles
- Finish area shambles
- No finish times
- Mile markers no where near the actual mile points
- Poor and unclean toilet provision / signange
- Knob shaped medals
- run out of tshirts/goody bags
- handing out wrong tshirts
- Reducing prices due to low numbers and offering no compensation to people who paid the full price (and were regular customers)

probably more I cant remember

I am inclined not to use them again - but as they organise my local marathon and half, I probably have no choice but to muse them again.

I liked the knob shaped medals. I liked that I didn't run that year. ;)

I have entered Chester marathon for the Autumn on the back of talking to the organisers at the London marathon Expo.

They sold their race to me. Big Time. Today they e-mailed me, just a generic e-mail but it felt personal and I nosed about on the website.

Look at the 100% good times guarantee on this page. Somehow I think these guts will deliver an event that I have no complaints about. Jings, their e-mail invtes me to a semnar and then a training run on Sunday

Chickens! They got loose and stole the water, as I recall. Tollcross parkrun has a llama and some sheep. Not, to date, on the course though. (Tollcross also has funny-looking chickens, but you have to visit them specially.) I though the knob shaped medal was quaility.

You missed out assorted post-race bag reclaim shambles. Could be under finish area shambles, but I think it deserves its own listing.

HT, I am looking forward to it - the race even goes through wales - we may need out passports by then ;-)

I believe though there is a bit of a hill at mile 25...which could be crucial...
