AS I sit here now the knee is OK I have the strap on today and I didnt yesterday (cho pat strap for Patellar tendonitis and it is comfortable. The achilles is gone totally and feels strong (I am wearing the insoles again and have done for 2 days) Hopefully I am back in the groove again - love the hip swinging Of course when the book arrives I will find I have not been Chi running at all |

I guess you achilles are achey because you were ball of footing it. If you land on the ball of your feet you will drop your heel to the ground before it peels off. So you will give the calf a tweak with every step. re the hip swing read that thread I posted - very illuminating |

Pose is a sequence of poses linked together, chi is about fluidity of motion. The energy comes flowing from the core whereas POSE poses are biomechanically designed to Augment the natural cushioning process. The principal difference is the fore foot / midfoot landing and the active lift of the foot off the ground as opposed to the peel off of Chi. Or so I gather. However POSE is not injury free - I see many more achilles and calf tears in POSE runners than even heel strikers for the same reasons as above. I have no idea about Chi runners. POSETECh coaches also gert very concerned about the correct footwear whereas Chi coaches do not mind what you run in as the foot is totally relaxed as you strike (energy coming from the core) However we are all kindred spirit in as much as we are the minority and have a common aim we are all keen to reduce the strains on the body because we can no longer cope with them. |

I have nothing against POSE (anything that keeps us all running and keeps us off the couch is fine by me) The main reason I was drawn to Chi was that the video trailer of the bloke running Chi looked more natural and flowing than the video of the bloke running pose. He also wore a trachsuit rather than horrid shorts, whereas the Chi runner logo is quite cool - so fairly shallow reasons really Strike a POSE indeed. also please remember that my knowledge of matters forefoot is gleaned from hours spent recovering from injury, surfing the net, looking for ways to avoid being injured again. I have not even got the Chi book yet and have never seen a Chi runner in real life, I have seen a POSE runner though. |
