Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I've been slowly building up my long runs during early May, and got to 13 miles up until two weeks ago, but I've done a couple of Parkruns for the last two weekends which mean I've missed out on a longer run. I'm aiming to get out again this afternoon, but I'm not sure whether it's sensible to go back to something like 12 miles and start building up again, or is it feasible to still go for 1 more beyond 13, so try and fit 14 in? Any advice?

I don't think you'll have lost too much fitness - however, endurance is the key, so I'd suggest reducing your pace, see how you feel at 10 miles, and loop to 12 if you're in good shape.

Use a route that gives you the option to get home sooner, if you're not feeling up to it. Bear in mind that it may well have been winter three weeks ago, so expect to feel different as you'll sweat more (assuming you've got the same weather we have). We did our half marathon training based on a long run every other week - so it is possible to have something of a gap - and if your mileage is otherwise good, then maybe it'll be ok. But see point 1 :-)

Thanks for the advice guys (with a *wave* to Mr Fetch :-) ). I worked out a route to get me near home around 9 miles (in case things didn't go to plan) and I'm kind of glad I did - I managed just over 9 miles and then my knee started playing up, so got home just before 4pm for a shower, nice glass of wine and a really good roast chicken dinner :-)
