I'll speak to some of the other fetch mile organisers but I think it'd be a case of measure (4 laps just about), get enough time keepers and then group Fetchies relative to predicted speed whilst keeping numbers to lower than no of stop watches. Maybe this is too simplistic, but I'll find out.

Count me in for this nonsense - probably have to run in a different group from mrs s in order to keep kids in check.

I reckon shanksi could take the missus in a 1 mile race. Can we start a sweepstake?

Out of loyalty I will be backing Mrs S. Never seen them running anything shorter than about 50 miles tho :) So hard to tell!

I think it's a fairly safe bet that I could win over a 60m dash (probably), and that the mrs comfortably has the advantage at 10K and all greater distances. So, at some distance between those two, we're probably fairly equal, but I'm not sure what that distance is. I'm guessing a mile could be a very close thing - it might be fun to race it head to head if this event goes ahead.

Having called sportvillage to ask about dates and costs, the lady on end of phone said I would need to speak with their events manager. Awaiting a call....as for the sweepsteake, since I dont know either of the Shanks, I'll go with long odds on whichever is their fastest bairn.

I was at the launch of the Aberdeen sports village and it's a great facility. I'd pick it over the balgownie everytime. Nicely contained and safe for kids. There's even a sand pit, lol!!

I guess there should be a kids race. Half mile maybe even?

And several different races for differing time scales... From the uber fasties to the slowbies like me.

Altho my ASV mile was 9:30 I think and that was well over a year ago, so surely now I could get into the 8's!! How exciting!!

Nywanda - remember to ask if it is cheaper for University staff to hire (me and MikeR). We get special rates for other sports village stuff.
