I cannot see how Paula winning will take the limelight from anyone else. I have had an amazing day watching Rebecca Adlington and Chris Hoy (and BOLT _ OH MY GOOD GRIEF) and if Paula wins i will have just as much pleasure watching her take gold as i do seeing the others take it. As a runner - I don't have Paula on a special pedestal just because she is the best at my chosen sport and i can't imagine that our slothful nation will do so either especially as most folks experience of sport is watching footie on the telly.
In fact - aren't we just having an awesome olympics.
But I really hope she wins it. I felt so bad for her in athens and I would love to see her come back strong and take the gold. however I won't be staying up to watch it cos i have to get up early and run 13 miles tomorrow morning.

I would love to see her win it but I don't think she'll end up with a medal. If she does win, it will be some performance.

i would dearly love to see all our girls do brilliantly, just to finish in that heat and humidity will be something special:-) but i so want Paula to win:-) i don't want them to feel like fools as Jo pavey apparently does after being lapped by Dibaba:-( poor Jo.

I think I'll set the alarm to go off with about half and hour to go. I remember 4 years ago being on a BBC Sport forum (pre-Fetch days!) and the sheer glee and mocking of some people at her pulling out staggered me. A very heated debate ensued for most of the evening.
