sallykate I really, really don’t need anymore cookbooks, but that looks so my sort of thing. And a recommendation from you makes it doubly desirable. X

I just love the idea of food which is part of a traditional food culture and happens to be vegan. On tofu, I will happily use an unopened packet which is weeks past its use by date, as long as it smells OK. |

That's it sally, it's not pretend anything. It's just vegetables! And fruit I guess butin my case I draw a veil iover that on the whole as bananas and pineapple may creep into the mix. And raisins.

Has anyone got any ideas about Maca Powder? I made a mistake and bought a 500g bag of the stuff from Grape Tree. (Idiotically confusing it - for a brief but crucial moment - with Matcha.) I thought cor that’s a good price for organic Matcha. It’s in nice plain brown paper packaging so I didn’t clock it wasn’t green. ho hum. I know it’s a bit of a vegetarian/ vegan thing so wondered if anyone had any good ideas? |

Thanks RS - I'd read smoothies, but don't like cold liquid food. Not bothered about soups either come to that - I like food to be chewable rather than drinkable. Perhaps I could put some in cakey things? Seems to be a good source of carbs and fibre. There was a nice recipe for choc orange energy balls on bbc good food - linked to an article about maca powder but not actually in the recipe - just says you can add. |

Thanks LMH - the Beetroot Maca-roons look good and the choc mousse makes me think I could add Maca to the choc yogurt puds I make, adding goodies rather than baddies so to speak.

There seemed to be a preponderance of sweet recipes but not many savoury suggestions for its use. Do you make the cottage cheese chocolate mousse? I expect you could add it to that if it doesn't have too strong a taste? Not something I've ever tried.
