new running trainers

Shaun2000 Sep 2012 7:35pm, 23 Sep 2012 22 posts	0 Shaun2000 hi all im in need of some ne running trainers dont want to spend a fortune on them i went in one sports shop today and it was a little confuseing as they were sorted in to what terain you ran on and how many miles you ran at a time and there was no one wanted to serve me so i left! i will try a different shop next week but any tips before habd would help! There's usually at least one in any city or large town. They will assess your running gait e.g find out if you over-pronate, under-pronate or are a neutral runner. This should be free of charge. They will then suggest what trainers are suitable for you from the stock they have depending on what your gait is and the terrain you'll be running on. Whatever they recommend your trainers should feel comfortable and you should be 100% happy with them. What's right for one person isn't always right for someone else. When I got my first pair of trainers the running shop advised me to go half a size bigger than my normal size as your feet will swell slightly particularly when running long distances. I found that when running long distance, my toes started to hurt so went one size bigger from my normal size which was the right decision for me. However, I would imagine this depends on the particular make of trainer you'll be getting and a trial and error factor as to whether you decide to go half a size or a size bigger than normal. When trying on trainers wear the socks you'll be running in. Running shops normally have a treadmill you can try them out on. They should be able to give you plenty of advice as well.

I have to say though you may find you need to spend somewhere between £80-100 on running shoes - don't scrimp on the most important part of your running kit.
