Back from my xmas break. Apart from some farm work I've had complete rest: no running or push ups. Decided to go straight for my next progression - 3 x 17.

Found the first set quite tough but the second felt easier. For the final set my wife put our baby down under me so I had to kiss her on each rep. It gave me incentive to not collapse :-). Pleased to have done 3 x 17. Wasn't mega hard but I was on fresh arms.

Some good stuff happening on here. Well done all :-)

Managed 2 X 26, and 21. Edging towards completing the 3rd set. With five to go I could not imagine completing them so decided to leave it to another day :-) Looks like it might take me five days to get from 3 X25 to 3 X 26. Once I have made it I think I might try taking alternative days off and see if the rest allows me to make faster progress.

well done for sticking with it xfb, and welcome back dogtanian

I'm still aching tonight so have just had a good stretching session. Intervals first thing in the morning, and will then see when I fit my sets in

Superstars was great viewing, and would really sort the men out from the boys. Can't imagine Phil Taylor being able to hold his own against such a bunch of proper sportsmen!

The enduring image for me is the footballer malcolm MacDonald running the 100m in about 10.5 seconds, with legs that seemed to be designed for kicking a football between.

Now though I have a new image, doing press ups with someone holding their fist in front of your face, or a pair of sweaty running socks! A little baby seems a lot more motivational.

Managed to do my 3 x 30 in the middle of a dark wet golf course at some ungodly hour this morning - having blown up trying to do the intervals in my plan I thought I had better recover something from getting up so early, and the press ups were more appealling than another mile at 6:39 pace!

I seem to recall Superstars every time I try and do squat thrusts during my circuits classes

Great progress Hackett - well done!

Impressive Hackett.

Longboat like the way you do the sets included into your running.

Just finished my 3x30 again hard work but feel I have room for a few more.

No pain no gain!

3 x 9 done, but thought I was on 3 x 8..... so just had to do a quick 3 more to make 27. Probably doing these every other day now. Happy New Year everyone.

About This Thread

Maintained by Dogtanian
Start on day 1 with 3 x 1 press up. On day 2 move to 3 x 2 and keep increasing by one every day. If you fail to do the target for the day then you try the same number the next day, only increasing when you have done the session properly. The Marathon talk challenge is to get to 3 x 100 push ups.

There are no real rules except all three sets must be done in the same session though. No going to wash your hair/walk the dog in-between sets:-).
