Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Is a Saturday Parkrun compatible with a Sunday LSR?

I tend not to do Parkrun because it doesn't seem like a good idea doing it the day before my LSR ie.two hard days together.

What does anyone else do?

Yeah, I do that rather a lot :)

Not saying it is advisable in ideal world, but it's usually OK.

A lot of my parkruns are not necessarily flat out though, more of a tempo run.

Depends how you train really - and how you run the parkrun

I run 7 days a week so if I didn't run hard because I was running longer the next day I'd never run hard! :-)

Good question! :-)

Been thinking the same recently too, be intersting to know what people think.

Personally, I am not 100% sure it is, especially if its an all out effort but on the slower days....maybe its ok.

I have been aiming for 5k PBs recently, so haven't been doing long runs on the Sunday. From August I will be going back to just enjoying the parkruns and then doing longer stuff on the Sunday. Works OK for me when I approach them in that way.

I do both... but I guess it depends on your training volume and what works for you

My knees just can't handle really pounding out the 5km and then 24 hours later going for a long run. Well they can, but then they ache for days afterwards so it kills my midweek stuff.

It would depend on how hard you run parkrun.

I tend to treat them more as tempo type runs and occasionally race them.

I sometimes do a long run on the Friday before parkrun.

When you become addicted to parkruns you have to fit them in come what may :)

Not that I am addicted. Nuh-uh, not me.
