Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Hello. I bailed at the end of the first lap and DNF. Kept it up for 3 miles and then decided it was too much like hard work and my hamstring hurt and my feet hurt and and I'd had enough. So early shower and a roll and a cuppa tea in the hall for us and we fled to Wicken Fen and sizzled with the dragonfllies. Have just got in.

That man from March
Wondered where you had got to Ice Maiden. You were with me and two of my clubmates for a time then just disappeared. Can't say I blame you the second lap was muuuurder as the guy used to say on Hart to Hart :)

I was reasonably comfortable dropping the pace to 10min/mile, but after starting with a target of just over 9min/mile it felt awfully slow and there was nothing to be gained except a bigger pain in the bum from doing another 8 miles. So discretion was the better part of something and I called it a day.

That was tough. Thank goodness for the breeze or it would have been even hotter.

A massive thanks to all of the Ely Runners Support staff yesterday, without them and their enthusiasm that race would have been much harder on us poor runners.

Now how do Ely Runners recover from yesterday. That's right, they open on-line entries in their other Annual sell out race. :)

Just looking at the entry list vs chip timed finishers, there were 802 entrants versus 572 chip finishers. Somewhere there are 230 people who either DNSd or DNFd. That's some attrition rate. Maybe if the temperature's trending up for this time of the year the organisers would consider moving the start to 9am?
