Niggly ITB today so took a day of rest from running. Need a sports massage to get into the niggly bits.
Clare, first time was 2007 as part of my 50th birthday challenge. I did it because my friend said I should act my age and stay at home with my knitting (cheek!) so I decided to take it with me and the people from Guinness World Records heard about it and contacted me with the suggestion that I should set a record. Nobody paid any attention to the 5 marathons and 2 ultras I ran that year, they just wanted to hear about the knitting! You might well have seen me on TV looking very silly at some stage as I did it in 2008 & 2010 too with crochet in 2009. I did say that I'd never do it again after the last time as it's so bliddy difficult as the pressure on my neck is massive and I can't feel my shoulders/arms for ages afterwards
Kwala, yep, I've got 2 GWRs. Longest scarf knitted whilst running a marathon (1.62m) and longest crochet chain whilst running a marathon (77.4m). Sometimes people think it's all very serious but it really isn't, it's just for fun and to draw attention to ARUK so I can talk about what happened to my mum and why I'm so passionate about raising money for dementia research.
Stander, yes you did! It was crochet which uses just a hook and nobody understood and it was even harder than knitting so I will definitely never do that again. Didn't you wear a strange costume in a marathon last year? Sorry if I've got confuzzled.
Chunky Boy, well done on your 20. Struggling and overcoming it is all part of training isn't it. I'm in rural East Sussex. Which 1/2 are you doing?

Chunky Boy - well done for sticking with it. I struggled a bit too, legs still tired after HM on Sunday but 21.32 hilly miles done (very slowly).

Strange costume? No idea what you mean. Surely everyone runs London dressed like this:-

Ha, thought so. Excellent costume Stander Someone suggested I should run dressed as a giant brain but I thought that would look really gross!!!
Chunky, oh now I'm jealous. I decided not to do Hastings this year as I've done it for 8 years in a row but I know I'll miss it. It's such a great atmosphere isn't it. Hope the weather's kind to you.
