DIY you say? I'm in. I might make some progress with this house if I offer my spare room in exchange for DIY.

I'm not sure what we are handy for - probably LEJOG. End of the great glen way if I pick people up.

My friend is looking to air B & B her spare room. She's not on this forum and doesn't run regularly but would like to offer it on a low-key basis. It's a lovely room and feels like a B & B already.

I suggested that she look for someone who works in Bristol regularly but lives elsewhere, like a yoga teacher, course runner, other therapist etc. If anyone knows someone who's looking, let me know innit ...

I'll be walking through Bristol in May 2018 on my way to Chepstow.

I'm liking these ideas..I'm not on a route to anywhere. But I am next to the sea.

Will need to fit some internal doors 1st. Hummmmm.

Are you walking to Chepstow for a particular reason Helegant?

Only that Chepstow is the other side of the bridge from Bristol.

Hopefully I'll be travelling from Bristol towards Liverpool visiting a few places that have relevance for my family history through the Welsh Marches, but that will be after I've done the Cornwall --> Devon --> Bristol bit of my longer walk.

If we have a tough winter, or if life gets in the way, it may be a bit later than May though ;-)

Well, if you change your route and cross the Severn at Gloucester, there's a Fetch BnB in Cheltenham! (And I won't make you camp in the garden unless you want to!)

Well, Hele - I'm sure if my pal's place is available, she will be amenable. She'll be charging tho'.

If I buy the place I'm looking at next week, you would be able to stay for nothing. Can't confirm yet what the condition will be like, but I'd like to think Id've made a good start on it by then. (Another wreck that needs doing up.)

That all sounds promising. It's amazing how few campsites etc there now - all the commercial holiday businesses have recognised the value of electric hookups for motorhomes and caravans, and some sites won't even accept tents.
