10km training plan

I have a basic training plan made up but:

Should I actually run 10km before the event? Part of me thinks yes another part thinks I would probably get away with it

Is a taper needed? If so when to taper

Race is 21st August

Alternatively If anyone can Linky me to a good training plan for running 3-4 times a week starting from running 5km would be very grateful

Have you checked on the 'Your Plan' tab on the 'Train' menu? There are a few plans there that may work.
