MartyK Swim was well ahead of expectations - Chuffed! Bike was usually ok but really felt it on the 2nd half of the 2nd lap and the 3rd time up over Winter Hill. The run was good and I jogged all of it except the steep hills. Problem is that my garmin shows 23.8 miles and from what I see on tri-forums, most folk reckon it was about 2 miles short. That's not fair for an £350 event. Some variance has to be expected, but 2 miles over a marathon is crazy, plus it leaves a question mark over the achievement. stella belly Great day, I can't swim so not drowning was a bonus, the bike went ok, took my time, saving energy for the run, felt good at the start of the run it didn't feel like I'd just been on a bike, I had a run walk strategy, I've never run a full marathon, I always get bored in the second half and start to walk and chat to people. Anyway the run, I was feeling a bit sick & light headed after the first loop so I started to walk and chat ( again) . I took on plain water and chedders for salt, I ran walked and chatted to the end and then wolfed down the best fish & chips I have ever eaten. Fantastic day, probably the stupidest part is that you have to collect your bike, yourself after the race, it's 6 mile from the finish line !!!
