Road narrowings (chicanes) ffs these drive me mad and make me want to kill someone. There are loads near me and they just cause pointless delays and congestion. What's wrong with speed humps to slow the traffic down ? At least it would keep moving then. FFS !!!

They removed a load of chicanes round here after a few people were killed because people sped up to get through them.

Needless financial bureaucracy.
Tax discs that could be eliminated and paid for via fuel duty.
Council tax for people who live on (huge) benefits followed by a special reduction for single occupancy in a large house. National Insurance, plus employers National Insurance, plus Tax, for people employing other people from their already-taxed (and Nationally Insured) salary.
Child benefit for millionaires.
Bloody pension fund managers who tell you there is nothing in your pension fund, and by the way please could you top it up so they can have their management fee.
Life Assurance companies that have taken a monthly payment for twenty five years and then tell you that owing to market circumstances beyond their control your endowment is pathetically small. So you need to pay them some more money.

People who seem to equate what they've read in Jean Plaidy novels and their like or seen in films and plays with historical "fact" - I'm listening to various news reports in which people are talkiing about Richard III as if they knew him personally and saying "He would like..." or, more disturbingly since it's what people often say about neighbours accused of heinous crimes, "He couldn't possibly have done that". I can't work out exactly who it is that's living in a version of The Truman Show. Perhaps it's me.
