Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

HAHAHA - I think you're turning into me :-) Today I did my foodbank shopping. It certainly concentrates the mind wonderfully well.

I don't expect any different on Masterchef, but for bog-standard "non-cheffy" programs like Nigella and High Firmly Gripitall I expect some semblance of a realistic approach, otherwise they'll always stay in a middle-class ghetto on BBC 2 and Channel 4. Mind you, that's probably what they want - middle class people buy books, innit.

Terry Wogan pointed out a few weeks ago, re Nigel Slater, that most people don't have half a pheasant among their "leftovers", which was a bit on an irony double-whammy.

Rick Stein's "Asian Christmas" had some vegetables that Kew Gardens couldn't "source". And whatever happened to "buy?"

I'd better stop now.... Blood pressure... Rising....

Pheasant tastes fucking disgusting, I would throw the whole bird in the bin rather than use it as leftovers.
Plus I now have a pheasant phobia after one committed suicide inches from my head on the M3 and has caused so much damage I'm still sorting it out 7 weeks later.

Actually though, pheasant is quite a cheap bird. Even cheaper if you go and poach one :) I will thank you for wreaking my revenge on the M3 pheasant owner :)

Yes, you be careful :-) I think there's a really big, yawning gap in the TV cookery market for a real "feed-your-family-on-a-budget" programme using only the type of ingredients that can be found in the local Co op or corner shop - and not "local" as in Belgravia either.

I like pheasant and where my mum lives you can get them very cheaply, about £3 each usually. Cheaper than a chicken. I refuse to pay Surrey price for what essentially is a pest though!

I thought all working class areas had a local Italian delicatessen where you can get estate bottled first pressing Virgin Olive Oil these days.

Best thing with pheasant is cut the breast out and dump the rest.
