Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Some of you might know Mark Thornberry (Thorners), an avid runner and ultra runner who has been battling cancer for some time now. Whilst he is fighting the good fight, he is also trying to raise a lot of money for Kings College Hospital. And part of that is the third 1st annual headtorch runs marathon :D

A marathon, in Dorking, between christmas and new years, at night. What more could you want? Help shed the christmas excess, do a bit for charity, and have a lot of fun :D It's a cheap one too, £35 to sign up, but if you turn up and run you get £30 refunded, so thats a whole £5 it will cost you to run, can't ask for better could you?

Mark is a great guy, and while he has had to stop running for now, he is determined to get back at it.

Are you going Sam?

To note they also have a marathon and Ultra (35 miles) this Saturday, 8pm start. What else would you be doing, watching strictly?

Not sure why a canary is part of the mandatory kit, but I suppose I'll find out Saturday ;)

I assume it's some sort of bird stand in rather than an 'actual' canary...? I would hope.

Anything that could be considered a canary counts, and because why not? I think it was the dead sheep race that required you to carry a hammer...

I would love to go for the marathon, having run events with both Thorners and Allan (Ogee on here once upon a time), but it's just a question of getting across to the UK. Need to see how things work out closer to the time...

You are doing the Raven 35 Oum? Looks like fun, they will certainly look after you, but they won't make it easy either!

In truth my wife would be upset if I attempted one of these (despite living close by) - I did a 4.5 mile night race and came home with bloodied knees. Even armed with a headtorch and a hand torch, it turned out I was terrible at nighttime trail running.
