I've been researching indoor running without one. Help. Confused . Seems Garmin footpod is discontinued . Do any other watches let you measure actual distance inside. At the moment I am going by time on feet and a very good knowledge of my pace but the inner geek in me( and perhaps some of you) would like a measured display. All suggestions gratefully received. |

If your Garmin counts steps you should be able to add averaged walking and running stride. Then just use it in treadmill mode

Garmin 235 has an indoor running mode. Not sure of the voodoo that makes it work. Something to do with taking metrics from your out door run and extrapolating. Using it on a thread mill as a benchmark it seems to under count distance on the flat and over count on an incline. I would assume a margin of error of +/- 10%. |

With a 235 you need to run outside to calibrate it. It will be accurate at the speed you run to calibrate it, but if you go faster or slower it will get more inaccurate. It works on the accelerometer in the watch so you need to keep your arm swinging for it to get the right result.
