What's the going rate these days? I've been out of the loop for a while but a new event for our local carnival weekend is offering a 5K with some trimmings for £20, plus 6% online booking fee, which strikes me as a bit rich. resultsbase.net

That sounds a bit much :-) I can't find price info, but the Doug Anderson 5k in Bedford Park scores 5/5 for value for money:

(and there's a list of entrants for 2018 you could ask)

Chip time and closed roads are expensive and I'm not sure that it being a short race helps much aside from the roads are not open for as long. It's a similar price to Doncaster 5km, which is also chip and closed roads.

The DA5K is the same course as Bedford parkrun (although DA5K were there first). I'll see if I can find out how much it is.

There was a closed-road chip-timed one in Desborough (I'm informed) that was £12 for UKA-affiliated runners:

It's as if you had a database of races reviewed by runners, with costs and other key data included Fetch?! ;-)

The roads will be closed anyway because it is before the carnival parade.

Actually it will be a total nightmare, getting everyone out if the way for the parade is hard enough. And they are encouraging people to walk it so....

Chaos will ensue.

I am doing one in Woking which is on while roads are closed for half. £13 for attached runners. I am not bothered about chips in general for 5k though... I mean if you want it THAT accurate then do 5,000m on the track.
