Notes & Comments
The Humber Bridge half marathon panned out in much the same way as last year. It was even hotter so my experience from Edinburgh stood me in good stead. I was aiming for 8 minute mile pace for as long as possible but it was impossible to gauge because of the irregularly spaced mile markers. There is no way I did one mile in 7 minutes and another in 10 and a half! By 5 miles it was apparent there would be no PB due to the searing heat but I aimed to beat last year's time, which I managed by 3:20. I got to half way in 53:20 but three large hills in the second half restricted me to 58:08 coming back. I was pleased with how I coped with the heat today though.
