I cannot believe I have taken over 15 minutes off my run in the GNR last September. Quite a windy day, but otherwise conditions were perfect. The start appeared a little chaotic with the usual queues for toilets, but that is just being churlish. I think I could have done even better if I had managed my toilet visits pre race as I had quite a stitch around mile 8. The wind (of the weather variety) stopped me having the big finish I had planned, but nevertheless with a mile to go I had been running for 1:40 so I knew a sub 1:50 was there for the taking. When I took up running 19 months I could never have dreamt of such a result. I would just like to mention my best mate Jonny Winder, who as usual was inspirational, Paul Kelly for the offer of Jelly Babies and other sustenance at mile 11 and Vinnie King who puts my "effort" into perspective
with a 1:36 at Wilmslow today.
