I hated every step of this. Ran this with man flu and pretty much unable to breath out of my nose and generating gallons of snot.

So, quite how I managed to get under 4 hours beats me. And when I consider how rough I felt by about 10/11 miles, it was a gritty effort to just duck inside 4.

That all said, it was like running with a pair of 5kg weights around my ankles today and my performance over the last 10k was pretty pathetic. I was running like Quasimodo by the end.

By 24m I was gutted because I thought I'd missed a sub 4, but I put in one last effort despite my HR being in the 180's and somehow managed to come home at sub 8 minute pace.

I think I will always look back and remember this marathon for two things: 1) It's the most ill I've ever felt and got to the end and 2) The effort at the end to get under 4 and the sustained effort early on was the stuff of Alf Tupper.
