Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

paulhalford DNF planned. Will run 16-20 miles, depending on the heat, as a training run.
UPDATE: Decided to finish. 2:56:09 chip time.
5.28am: Reach the start line with two minutes to spare and leaped a barrier to fit in among 12,000 runners. Already it's 25C and the sun isn't due up for another hour and a quarter. No real plan on where to drop out as I start sweating only three minutes in, but always was in the back of my mind to finish if I felt okay.
First 10-13 miles felt really easy. 21-22 miles started to struggle to maintain the same pace, but didn't drastically slow.
All in all, it felt very tough, but I'm not worried as I didn't treat it seriously. I must have lost around 1:30 through carrying a bum bag containing camera and phone weighing 0.8kg. Also probably spent about at least minute in stopping twice to take photos. And then the heat, which probably never got above 30C.
Apparently, I was first M30-34 (and second over-30 male), which I find difficult to believe - maybe they got some ages wrong in the database as this was a reasonably high-quality race (I was behind at least 10 women).
Frustratingly, I could have run the half-marathon in 1:21 and finished third to pick up $300, or possibly won the 10km to win $300 also.
