I'm replacing my old, worn-out trail shoes and I'm not sure how they should fit. Plenty room at the front or slightly less to stop the foot moving about? My last were almost ideal but I've tried on the same size and a half size bigger than my last ones - the same size seem fractionally smaller but the half size seem lots bigger. is t best to go for slightly too big than slightly too small??

Um. A couple of things occur to me. Do the same size ones feel smaller cos they're new? If you're going to wear waterproof socks with them, get the bigger ones. You could try different makes/models to see if there's a better fit. Personally, I'd rather go with slightly bigger than smaller.

It's best to go for just right rather than slightly too anything! Don't get them if they don't fit. I can be annoying when a new pair of your favourites doesn't fit but you don't want sore feet from ill fitting shoes. If you're going to be running on very uneven, fell running type terrain your feet will slide around in anything too big. I wear thick waterproof socks in winter so can get away with a slightly roomier fit. |
