Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Becoming an effluencer

Hello peeps.

Blogs on Fetch have always been (I hope) a place to share the stuff that's going on in your life. They're somewhat shielded from the eyes of the outside world, because one has to be a logged in Fetchie to read them. And even then, you can restrict things further to make your entries available to buddies only, or just for your eyes only. Double-oh my goodness!

My blog is different, because most of the time I'm talking about what's happening on the site. What do they call them these days? Effluencers? :-) Anyway, my blog is open to all so that I can share it.

But for a while now, I've thought it would be good to give you the option to share stuff that you've written with a wider audience, without having to go to the trouble of explaining how they get a Fetch account, and where they go after that, and so forth.

I wanted it to be something that you could do selectively - so that amazing race blog you've written, or that write up of how you mastered Russian whilst learning the tuba during lockdown - or whatever you want to share - you can do so now.

Look for the green sharing button next to each entry in your blog. Click that, and it'll mark that entry as freely shareable, and give you a URL that you can bung into your social media bucket of choice. It'll even put it into your paste buffer for you. And there's an undo button if you want to turn it off again.

Give it a try if you like. And if you've got nothing to share, there might be a suitable challenge in tomorrow's calendar. Or there might not. No spoilers :-)

EDIT: PS it doesn't matter what your blog settings are. If you choose to share a specific entry, the link will work.

Got something to say?
