Cross - Pilates
Online pre-recorded pilates class.
I probably should have done this before my physio appointment, rather than after, as my sciatic nerve is quite tender after the work he did on it.

Cross - Pilates
Pilates class.
Then I went and bought three new pairs of trainers, a size bigger than my usual ones to try and ease the pressure on the blisters on top of my toes. £170 x 2 and £150. Between podiatrist appointments and footwear, chilblains are proving to be an expensive consequence of raynauds. 🙁

To/from parkrun to volunteer. Cold and frosty, which did nothing for my painful chilblains.

Another case of gritting my teeth and doing my best (unsuccessfully) to ignore my painful, blistered chilblains. 🙁
5mi ,
Walk - General
Two weeks of staying off my feet has made next to no difference to my blistered, swollen, chilblained toes - as soon as I put on a shoe the pain is as bad as ever - so every step of this was agony, but I can't sit on the sofa indefinitely. The fact that it was baltic didn't help, my feet were frozen. 🙁
0mi ,
Cross - Pilates
Pilates class.
I've paid for an extra class tomorrow evening - advanced. 😮

0mi ,
Cross - Pilates
Pilates class - advanced level!
E suggested that I might like to try this class as a PAYG with a view to moving up a level next term. It was definitely challenging, and there were some exercises when I didn't feel particularly competent, but E said I did very well for a first timer (the other 4 ladies have been going to this class for a couple of years) so I have to assume I wasn't completely rubbish. I'll do a couple more classes on a PAYG basis before the end of March and then decide whether to stick with Beginners/Improvers or move up a level.

Walk - General
Another very painful walk in the drizzle. I've booked a doctor's appointment for Thursday to have my chilblains looked at.

My blistered feet were painful, and my glutes and quads are feeling last night's pilates.

4mi ,
Walk - General
To/from library and pharmacy.
End of another month, and the least said about February the better. Another month down the pan.
6.5mi ,
Walk - General
Post pilates, pre lunch walk. Sunny but baltic, and I was famished by the end.
0mi ,
Cross - Pilates
Pilates class.
E said again that I did really well for my first time at Tuesday evening's advanced class so I took the plunge and signed up for the remaining classes this term. I dread to total how much 4 classes a week is costing me, but I'm enjoying it so, so what?

5mi ,
Walk - General
So tired I was almost comatose after a sleepless night followed by a day on the road. It was absolutely baltic - my feet and hamstrings didn't thaw for the entire 5 miles.

5.5mi ,

A nice evening, as in dry and not windy, but absolutely freezing. Still daylight at 6pm which was nice.

To/from parkrun to freeze to death marshalling. It was my 25th volunteering milestone. Apparently parkrun HQ will now 'allow' me to spend my own hard earned cash on a branded t-shirt to mark the occasion. So very generous of them. 🙄
Coffee afterwards with the team.

Cross - Pilates
Pilates class - Advanced. Really tough, but I managed to do everything, even if a bit too wobbly at times.
4mi ,
Walk - General
Didn't think I'd have time for a walk pre pilates class so pleased I at least got a few more miles in, especially as I'm away all day tomorrow so won't be doing much, if any, walking. It's sunny and warmer now.
6.5mi ,
Walk - General
Cold and windy, but at least the rain stopped after the first mile.

Attempting to walk off an emotional day. Some days no amount of trying to look on the bright side works, it's just overwhelmingly sad. Today was one of those days. 😢 To add to the misery, my chilblains are blistered and agony. 🙁

A short, bitterly cold trot around the block before B & R arrive for a long weekend.
7mi ,
Walk - General
Absolutely freezing. Despite multiple layers I was frozen; my feet were like two blocks of ice and my chilblains were really painful.
|
0mi ,
Cross - Pilates
Pilates class.
I missed today's in person class as I was away all day with B & R so I paid for this week's pre-recorded online class. It was a tough one, but I've had a long day with lots of driving followed by a hilly 10k walk so I was fatigued to start with.
(Both B & R commented, unprompted, on my good posture and said I looked "taller and leaner" so perhaps spending £50 a week on pilates classes isn't totally wasted, although I'm pretty sure "leaner" means "fatter". 🫤)
6mi ,

A bitterly cold and windy walk after spending the day with dad and B & R.

Stretching my legs after a day’s driving. Dizzy and lightheaded from all the caffeine I drank to keep me awake on the journey. My chilblains and blisters are so painful today.

Pilates class.
6mi ,

Pre breakfast walk as I'm off to see dad again straight after pilates.

Cross - Pilates
Pilates class - Advanced. I found a couple of the balance exercises really hard tonight, but I think some of that was due to my legs feeling very “used” from walking.

Tired, heavy legs and sore feet. Pilates is going to be tough...

Hardly slept last night (caffeine OD), up at 0600, train to Lisburn for early morning meeting. Shattered, chilblains blistered and painful. I'm going to have to take more caffeine to keep me awake for pilates tonight. 🫤

A tough (upsetting 😢) day with dad, then I got my hair cut, so this was my lot for today. It was enough; I'm mentally and physically exhausted.

Still hosing it down. Drenched again. Standing water everywhere. I'll be lucky not to get trench foot.

So much for the BBC forecast of "light rain". What a joke. It was absolutely chucking it down. I was beyond soaked.

6mi ,

Hard work in the wind but at least it wasn't raining.

Horrendous weather now after a lovely morning - lashing rain and blowing a gale. Drenched and buffeted off my feet.
0mi ,

5.5mi ,
Walk - General
To/from parkrun to marshal. Coffee afterwards with the team.
Coach C from Jog Belfast was there I and was telling her that I'm pretty much done with running now, mojo and confidence shot to hell. She encouraged me to come back to JB when it restarts on 17 April. I didn't commit but said I'd think about it...
|
4mi ,
Walk - General
Running before breakfast always leaves me feeling drained for the rest of the day, and today is no exception. My sciatic nerve feels a bit tight/achy so I probably did a couple of run intervals too many this morning for a first attempt at running again after a long break. 🫤
6.5mi ,
Walk - General
I thought about what C said yesterday ("Of course you can still run; you just need to start slowly and build up very gradually") so I walked for 2 miles and then ran/walked the rest of this at r2/w1 intervals. It was horrible, not in an injured way (my chilblains hurt, but no more than they do on my daily walks), but in a sweet baby Moses I am so unfit kind of way. I felt a bit lightheaded towards the end but I never run well first thing even when fit and I hadn't had any breakfast before going out.
|
4.5mi ,
Walk - General
Pouring and very windy now. I'm not sure if the DOMS in my legs is due to pilates or yesterday's attempt at a run.

To/from the running shop to pick up my new shoes. Sunny, and almost too warm to be wearing winter kit. 😮
