Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

City of Manchester 10k - rode to the Athletics stadium and didn't have much time to warm up, too hot anyway so I stayed in the shade as much as possible. Only had 1 training run in the past 2 weeks and that was in Barca but I still felt fairly confident of getting under 41 mins. My plan was to stick to 4 min pace and hold on, not sure how it would go after 3 pints watching Haye v Klitschko last night. Started off well in 3:50 and hit 4:00 for the next 2km, after a long steady hill my pace slowed to 4:04 and then 4:15 to get to halfway in 20:09. I was telling myself that 40 mins was gone but after another 4:00 I then had a bit of water at 6km and picked it up once more. I got a second wind and ran 3:57 then 4:00 and a brilliant 3:52 to give myself a great chance of sub 40. The last km was hot and hard, onto the track the announcer shouted out 39:30 as I was on the back straight. One big push and the finish line approached, 39:52 and a strong last km in 3:54, goosed but delighted. Next target is a 5k pb, I want it to start with 17...!
