Oughtibridge chase. Got a bit of a coughy cold so plan was to not push too hard. Yeh right.
Set off and where were all the fast chaps? Reasonably steady round the show field and in settled into the chasing pack (AS disappeared into the distance and 2nd had opened up bit of a gap, probably a 5 sec gap to MM) Worked quite hard up the hill in a group of 3. Off the top and felt alright so pushed on. Nip and tuck all the way down and felt like there was a group right on my shoulder waiting to come past. Overtook MM on the short climb before the road descent. Didn't give it full beans down the road to save something for the lap of the field. SS came alongside just as we were turning into the field - fortunately had enough in the tank to see him off and the others lurking on my shoulder. Didn't look back but no-one came past so held on to 3rd. Very happy with the result (even won a £5 m+s voucher for first V40 - so £1 up on the day wooot). Time was 10 or so secs slower than last year (when I finsihed 12th I think) but hey you can only beat the people that turn up on the day
Lets hope the exertion doesn't result in a chest infection..

Thought you may have done well by the fact you wrote a short story! I would have gone for "Oughtibridge Chase - came 3rd, well done me"
When you get to my age you'll know that the only way to remember anything is to write it down. Then I'll be able to look back and think - wow I was great once. Trust me you should report every footstep of your penistone boundary run for posterity
