Northants Shires and Spires 35 miler ultra.
Lovely course although a lot more road than I expected - trail shoes trashed my feet as the first 11 miles were all on roads plus lots more afterwards.
Completely self navigated - just a map, no marshals or signs (not what I expected) and this paniced me slightly. With people in sight for most of it - miles 14-16 I couldn't see anyone infront or behind and wanted to stop at CP3 (16miles). However, was pursuaded to continue, just wait for a group that were behind me and keep a group in front and behind. This worked well + I got to grips with where we were on the map so could map read if on my own!
Glad I completed it, in terms of distance it was good - legs felt fine, stiff at the end but not trashed so could have done further if needed. Feet definately sore and blistered.
Would I do it again? Not sure, the self navigation put me off - but the course was lovely, so maybe again with a GPS route watch/device - food for thought!!!
